COCKTAILS

Version 2We love hibiscus! This alluring flower imbues an exquisite pink hue that delights the eye while it pleases the palate with a tart cranberry-like finish. Infuse it into simple syrup* for some balance, pick your favorite Gray Wolf® Spirit, add some citrus and voilà, hibiscus 3 ways…Lobo Hibiscus Margarita, Timber Hibiscus Fizz, Lone Hibiscus Collins.

Lobo Hibiscus Margarita 
2 oz Lobo Agave Spirit
1 oz hibiscus simple syrup*
1 oz fresh lime juice
3 dashes orange bitters (we love Embitterment brand)
pink himalayan salt for garnish (any course salt will do & is optional)

-rim cocktail glass with salt & set aside
-combine remaining ingredients into cocktail shaker with ice & shake
-strain into garnished glass (can be served up or on the rocks)

Timber Hibiscus Fizz
1.5 oz Timber Gin
1 oz hibiscus simple syrup*
1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
3 dashes orange bitters (we love Embitterment brand)
1 egg white or 1 oz egg white substitute (preferred for the frothy smooth finish but optional)

-combine all ingredients into cocktail shaker & dry shake vigorously for 20 seconds
-add ice to the shaker and shake again for 15 seconds
-strain into glass (coupe glass preferred)

Lone Collins (Hibiscus)
2 oz Lone Vodka
1 oz hibiscus simple syrup*
1 oz fresh lemon juice
3 dashes orange bitters (we love Embitterment brand)
Seltzer water to top

-combine all but the seltzer into cocktail shaker & shake
-strain into glass over ice
-top with seltzer

*Hibiscus simple syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
3/4 cup dried hibiscus flowers

In a small sauce pan bring the sugar and water to simmer until the sugar has dissolved. Add hibiscus to simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat allow to steep for another 15 minutes. Strain petals.
